Get to know Jess

Hiya! I’m Jess — the human behind J Bean Art.

I’m a Fort Collins, CO muralist who believes every wall has a story to tell, and the best ones start with yours. Before I ever put paint to surface, I take time to truly get to know my clients and the community the mural will live in. Listening is part of my creative process, and cracking a few jokes along the way! Connection is the foundation of my practice.

I’m endlessly curious about color, form, and how art can transform a space, and what really drives me is people. I care deeply about making sure you feel seen, heard, and genuinely excited about what we create together. It’s the goal.

In addition to running J Bean Art, I serve as the Executive Director of the Fort Collins Mural Project, where I’ve refined my skills in project management, public engagement, and artist collaboration. I’ve worked with schools, shelters, United Way, the Museum of Discovery, municipalities, and nonprofits small to large to bring meaningful public art to life.

One thing that makes me different? I don’t believe I need to paint every single project myself. Sometimes the best outcome comes from matching the right artist to the right story, and I love building those connections. Whether I’m leading the design, facilitating community input, or curating a team of artists, my focus is always on creating something thoughtful, lasting, and aligned with your vision.

Every mural starts with your story, & I’d be honored to help you tell it.
