<image:caption>16,500-square-foot asphalt mural — the largest public art installation in Fort Collins, Colorado, and the city’s first fully ADA-compliant public art installation. Completed in just five days with the help of 50+ community volunteers. Spanning all five corners of a complex five-point intersection, this Bloomberg grant–funded project reimagines the streetscape to increase pedestrian visibility and safety while honoring the land and its history. The design features blue waves of the Poudre River and Cutthroat Trout symbolizing Chief Friday, with shadows representing his lasting legacy. Each trout includes a traditional embroidery symbol for fish as its dorsal fin, connecting the design to Northern Navajo art traditions. Magnolia blossoms reference the settlers whose violent actions led to the displacement of his people to the Wind River Reservation. The project was created in collaboration with Chief Friday’s living descendants, ensuring the story was told with care and respect.</image:caption>
